Lingua Nigra (leen-gwah nigh-gruh) is sculptural design for everyday adornment.
Shortly after graduating from University of New York Fashion Institute of Technology, Alicia Goodwin began working on Lingua Nigra. She is inspired by nature, with a focus on ancient talismans, Victorian era work and mourning sentimental jewelry.
Her process of acid etching and also metal reticulation creates a beautiful one of a kind mix of texture in the metal she uses in her pieces, shapes are then cut out. Lingua Nigra is meant to evoke a timeless feeling that can be worn everyday, because this form of art should be shared by wearing.
