Artist Statement
Lo Marie is an artist based in the Southeast side of Chicago. Her experiences as a child while visiting with grandparents, a lifelong relationship with the prison system through the incarceration of her brother, and living on both the west and south sides of Chicago are what inspired Lo Marie to actively seek creative expression through mixed media. Utilizing collage, Lo is able to explore the history of low-income communities. Her pieces often portray feelings, memories, concerns, and observations of people that reside within them.
